Description

The DOG-X JR COAYU is a compact, baitfish-sized walking lure built around Megabass’ patented moving balancer technology to produce unmatched motion. Its SIDE-STEPPING MOVING BALANCER (PAT.) shifts weight side-to-side to drive sharp, powerful turns, proving that a smaller profile can generate oversized, aggressive action. The DOG-X Jr. COAYU slides smoothly across calm water with a seductive cadence and fine detail that trigger strikes. Pick up the retrieve or give firmer twitches and the COAYU erupts into frantic, baitfish-like darting and thrashing. A tail-mounted lateral moving balancer helps the lure cast far and accurately, and each twitch delivers a distinct “click/knock” that further attracts predators.

Rod:
For a classic topwater setup we suggest the DESTROYER P5 F1-63X POPX STICK. Its moderately tapered blank brings out the full spectrum of COAYU’s motion, and the slower action allows the rod to load deeply and keep hooked fish pinned. For a modern pistol-grip approach, try the GREAT HUNTING HUNTSMAN GHBF511-4L, ideal for quick draw roll-casts and tight twitching. With a softer tip than the POPX STICK, the HUNTSMAN permits finer rod work and highlights the advantages of a pistol-grip rig.

Line:
We recommend a braided mainline with a leader. Leader diameter noticeably influences lure behavior—especially for angler-animated baits like walkers and jerkbaits. In most conditions a 4–6 lb leader gives the best balance of action and strength.

Please note: very thin braids combined with light monofilament leaders are more prone to line shear. Test your leader knots before the first cast and, if you encounter shear, increase leader diameter or switch to a tougher fluorocarbon.
